Canoe / Kayak Race and Family Fun Paddle

Saturday, June 21, 2008 (rain or shine)

Start: Hix Bridge Landing, Westport MA

Finish: Head of Westport River

Enter a 3.5 mile Family Fun Course or an 8.5 mile Challenge Course

Challenge runners will face tide and wind issues.

Entry fee includes a tee shirt (while they last), water and fruit, and juice and snacks at the end of the race.

Prizes awarded in a variety of classes.

Registration begins at 8:30 AM

Challenge Race starts at 10 AM

Family Fun Race starts at 10:30 AM

Free Shuttle back to race start

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

(This equipment will be checked prior to the race.)

  • Coast Guard type III Personal Flotation Device (PFD), worn at all times while paddling
  • Whistle, Water for all; Pump & Paddle Float for decked kayaks
  • All boats must have adequate flotation so that they can be paddled when fully swamped

 
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
  • Clothing for cold-water immersion
  • Water shoes to protect your feet at launch & landing sites
  • All items inside the boat should be secured to prevent loss in the event of a capsize
